Ground Zero
Creation and performance: Jil Guyon
My earliest performances concerned the remorse that continues to remain repressed in the American unconscious for its use of nuclear weapons. Through the merger of documented atomic blast footage with live solo movement-based performance, I was interested in not only addressing an historical event, but personal sorrow and emotional devastation. Both Hiroshima/Nagasaki and my body were presented as sites where tragedy occurred. (Performed at Art In General, NYC)
